How this works
What we do not claim
It is easier to trust a site that is specific about the limits of what it is telling you. These are ours.
We do not rank anyone against anyone else
There is no score, no rating, no best-of and no order that means anything. What you see is what fits your situation, and where more than one thing fits, the order carries no judgement.
We do not say anything negative about an organisation
Where we have not yet established something, whether a credential, a membership or a service, we leave it out. An absence on this site is an absence of checking on our part and never a statement that the organisation lacks something.
We do not do your research, and we are not a records database
This site does not hold Irish records, does not search them, and does not tell you who your ancestors were. It works out what to do next and who does that kind of work.
We do not guarantee anyone’s work
We check facts about an organisation. We are not a party to what you agree with them, we take no fee from them, and we do not warrant an outcome.
We do not decide what you are allowed to look at
Working out what to recommend is not the same as deciding what you may see. Where we hold back a recommendation we tell you what it would take to make one, rather than hiding anything.
We do not sell placement, and we do not run ads
No organisation has paid to be listed, to be listed higher, or to be shown to a particular kind of visitor. If that ever changes, it will be stated on the listing itself before it is true anywhere.
